As part of this class, we will all write a teaching philosophy of no more than 2-3 pages that illustrates how you envision your teaching and educational functions in digitally-enhanced learning environments. There are no "right answers" for this assignment; I really want you to dig into what forms the foundation of your teaching style, engagement, and growth.
Challenge yourself to write a single narrative rather than a question-response submission so that it more closely mirrors what people submit as part of the application process for teaching positions in higher education. Some things to consider:
How do theories of adult learning and/or clinical education support your philosophy? Which ones?
What gaps or challenges do you endeavor to be attentive to?
How are considerations of culture, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging positioned in your teaching philosophy?
What are your big picture goals as it pertains to technology-enhanced education? To what extent do you want to or don't want to embrace technologic applications and advances in your teaching work? Why?
How do you envision continuing to learn and develop yourself as an educator (clinical, didactic, or formal presenter, etc.)?
Please feel free to include any other elements of your teaching philosophy/style that I have not asked about here and that you are interested in deepening in your work.
This writing will be a part of your portfolio if that is what you choose to create in this class. If not, it can be added as a page to whatever site you create or turned in as a document. Ideally, we can all learn for reading our classmates and colleagues philosophies around teaching with technology.
