93. Surah Ad-Duha (The Early Hours)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
1. وَالضُّحَىٰ
1. وَالضُّحَىٰ
2. وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ
2. وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ
3. مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ
3. مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ
4. وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنَ الْأُولَىٰ
4. وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنَ الْأُولَىٰ
5. وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ
5. وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ
6. أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ
6. أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ
7. وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ
7. وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ
8. وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ
8. وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ
9. فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ
9. فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ
10. وَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ
10. وَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ
11. وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ
11. وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
Wad duhaa
Wal laili iza sajaa
Ma wad da'aka rabbuka wa ma qalaa
Walal-aakhiratu khairul laka minal-oola
Wa la sawfa y'uteeka rabbuka fatarda
Alam ya jidka yateeman fa aawaa
Wa wa jadaka daal lan fahada
Wa wa jadaka 'aa-ilan fa aghnaa
Fa am mal yateema fala taqhar
Wa am mas saa-ila fala tanhar
Wa amma bi ni'mati rabbika fahad dith
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
By the Glorious Morning Light,
And by the Night when it is still,-
Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.
And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present.
And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased.
Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)?
And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance.
And He found thee in need, and made thee independent.
Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness,
Nor repulse the petitioner (unheard);
But the bounty of the Lord - rehearse and proclaim!

5. وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ

6. أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ

7. وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ

8. وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ

9. فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ

11. وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ

1. وَالضُّحَىٰ (waḍ-ḍuḥā) - The morning light
Example Sentence: وَالضُّحَىٰ (waḍ-ḍuḥā) - By the morning light.
Translation: By the morning light.
3. إِذَا (ʾidhā) - When

Example Sentence: وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ (wa-l-layli ʾidhā sajā) - And the night when it covers.
Translation: And the night when it covers.
4. سَجَىٰ (sajā) - Covers, darkens

Example Sentence: وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ (wa-l-layli ʾidhā sajā) - And the night when it covers.
Translation: And the night when it covers.
6. وَدَّعَكَ (waddaʿaka) - Forsaken you

Example Sentence: مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ (mā waddaʿaka rabbuka wa mā qalā) - Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased.
Translation: Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased.
7. قَلَىٰ (qalā) - Displeased

Example Sentence: مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ (mā waddaʿaka rabbuka wa mā qalā) - Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased.
Translation: Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased.
8. وَالْآخِرَةُ (wa-l-ākhiratu) - The Hereafter

Example Sentence: وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ (wa-l-ākhiratu khayrun laka mina l-ūlā) - And the Hereafter is better for you than the first life.
Translation: And the Hereafter is better for you than the first life.
10. سَوْفَ (sawfa) - Soon

Example Sentence: وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ (wa-la-sawfa yuʿṭīka rabbuka fa-tarḍā) - And soon your Lord will give you, and you will be satisfied.
Translation: And soon your Lord will give you, and you will be satisfied.
11. يُعْطِيكَ (yuʿṭīka) - Will give you

Example Sentence: وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ (wa-la-sawfa yuʿṭīka rabbuka fa-tarḍā) - And soon your Lord will give you, and you will be satisfied.
Translation: And soon your Lord will give you, and you will be satisfied.
12. يَتِيمًا (yatīman) - An orphan

Example Sentence: أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ (alam yajidka yatīman fa-ʾāwā) - Did He not find you an orphan and give you refuge?
Translation: Did He not find you an orphan and give you refuge?
13. آوَىٰ (ʾāwā) - Gave refuge

Example Sentence: أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ (alam yajidka yatīman fa-ʾāwā) - Did He not find you an orphan and give you refuge?
Translation: Did He not find you an orphan and give you refuge?
14. دَالًّا (dāllan) - Lost

Example Sentence: وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ (wa-wajadaka ḍāllan fa-hadā) - And found you lost and guided you.
Translation: And found you lost and guided you.
15. هَدَىٰ (hadā) - Guided

Example Sentence: وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ (wa-wajadaka ḍāllan fa-hadā) - And found you lost and guided you.
Translation: And found you lost and guided you.
16. عَائِلًا (ʿāʾilan) - Needy

Example Sentence: وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ (wa-wajadaka ʿāʾilan fa-aghnā) - And found you needy and made you self-sufficient.
Translation: And found you needy and made you self-sufficient.
17. أَغْنَىٰ (aghnā) - Made self-sufficient

Example Sentence: وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ (wa-wajadaka ʿāʾilan fa-aghnā) - And found you needy and made you self-sufficient.
Translation: And found you needy and made you self-sufficient.
18. فَأَمَّا (fa-ʾammā) - So as for

Example Sentence: فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ (fa-ʾammā al-yatīma fa-lā taqhar) - So as for the orphan, do not oppress him.
Translation: So as for the orphan, do not oppress him.
19. يَتِيمَ (yatīma) - The orphan

Example Sentence: فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ (fa-ʾammā al-yatīma fa-lā taqhar) - So as for the orphan, do not oppress him.

Example Sentence: فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ (fa-ʾammā al-yatīma fa-lā taqhar) - So as for the orphan, do not oppress him.

21. فَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ (fa-ʾammā as-sāʾila) - And as for the asker

Translation: And as for the asker, do not repel him.
22. سَائِلَ (sāʾila) - The asker

Example Sentence: وَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ (wa-ʾammā as-sāʾila fa-lā tanhar) - And as for the asker, do not repel him.
Translation: And as for the asker, do not repel him.

Example Sentence: وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ (wa-ʾammā bi-niʿmati rabbika fa-ḥaddith) - And as for the favor of your Lord, report it.
Translation: And as for the favor of your Lord, report it.
25. نِعْمَةِ (niʿmati) - Favor

Example Sentence: وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ (wa-ʾammā bi-niʿmati rabbika fa-ḥaddith) - And as for the favor of your Lord, report it.
Translation: And as for the favor of your Lord, report it.
26. حَدِّثْ (ḥaddith) - Report

Example Sentence: وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ (wa-ʾammā bi-niʿmati rabbika fa-ḥaddith) - And as for the favor of your Lord, report it.
Translation: And as for the favor of your Lord, report it.
