Qul huwal laahu ahad
Allah hus-samad
Lam yalid wa lam yoolad
Wa lam yakul-lahoo kufuwan ahad (section 1)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
And there is none like unto Him.
هُوَ (huwa) - He
Example Sentence:
Arabic: هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ (huwal laahu ahad)
Translation: He is Allah, the One.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: هُوَ قَوِيٌّ (huwa qawiyun)
Translation: He is strong.
ٱللَّهُ (Allah) - Allah
Example Sentence:
Arabic: هُوَ ٱللَّهُ (huwal laahu)
Translation: He is Allah.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: أَنا أُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ (ana uminu bi Allah)
Translation: I believe in Allah.
أَحَدٌ (ahad) - One
Example Sentence:
Arabic: أَحَدٌ (ahad)
Translation: One.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ (Allah ahad)
Translation: Allah is One.
ٱلصَّمَدُ (as-samad) - The Eternal Refuge
Example Sentence:
Arabic: ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ (Allah as-samad)
Translation: Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: نَلْجَأُ إِلَى ٱلصَّمَدِ (nalja'u ila as-samad)
Translation: We seek refuge in the Eternal Refuge.
لَمْ (lam) - Not
Example Sentence:
Arabic: لَمْ يَلِدْ (lam yalid)
Translation: He begets not.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: لَمْ يَكُنْ (lam yakun)
Translation: It was not.
يَلِدْ (yalid) - He begets
Example Sentence:
Arabic: لَمْ يَلِدْ (lam yalid)
Translation: He begets not.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: يَلِدْ طِفْلًا (yalid tiflan)
Translation: He begets a child.
وَلَمْ (wa lam) - Nor
Example Sentence:
Arabic: وَلَمْ يُولَدْ (wa lam yoolad)
Translation: Nor is He begotten.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: وَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ (wa lam yarji)
Translation: Nor did he return.
يُولَدْ (yoolad) - Is He begotten
Example Sentence:
Arabic: وَلَمْ يُولَدْ (wa lam yoolad)
Translation: Nor is He begotten.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: هُوَ يُولَدْ (huwa yoolad)
Translation: He is born.
وَلَمْ (wa lam) - And not
Example Sentence:
Arabic: وَلَمْ يَكُنْ (wa lam yakun)
Translation: And there is none.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: وَلَمْ يَكْذِبْ (wa lam yakdhib)
Translation: And he did not lie.
يَكُنْ (yakun) - There is
Example Sentence:
Arabic: وَلَمْ يَكُنْ (wa lam yakun)
Translation: And there is none.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: هَذَا يَكُنْ حَقًّا (haza yakun haqqan)
Translation: This is true.
لَّهُۥ (lahoo) - To Him
Example Sentence:
Arabic: لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ (lahoo kufuwan ahad)
Translation: To Him is comparable none.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: أَعْطَيْتُهُۥ لَّهُۥ (a'taytuhu lahoo)
Translation: I gave it to him.
كُفُوًا (kufuwan) - Comparable
Example Sentence:
Arabic: لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا (lahoo kufuwan)
Translation: Comparable to Him.
Example Sentence:
Arabic: لَيْسَ هُنَاكَ كُفُوًا (laysa hunaak kufuwan)
Translation: There is none comparable.
In the peaceful village of Noor, the villagers began each day with a meaningful exchange that reinforced their understanding of divine attributes.
Person A: "هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ" (huwal laahu ahad) - He is Allah, the One. Person B: "اللّٰهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ" (Allah as-samad) - Allah, the Eternal Refuge. Person A: "لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ" (lam yalid wa lam yoolad) - He begets not, nor is He begotten. Person B: "وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ" (wa lam yakul-lahoo kufuwan ahad) - And there is none comparable to Him.
Throughout the day, they would repeat these phrases:
Person C: "هُوَ اللّٰهُ" (huwal laahu) - He is Allah. Person D: "لَمْ يَلِدْ" (lam yalid) - He begets not. Person C: "وَلَمْ يُولَدْ" (wa lam yoolad) - Nor is He begotten. Person D: "كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ" (kufuwan ahad) - Comparable to Him is none.
The daily repetition helped the villagers internalize the meanings and reflect on the unique and incomparable nature of the divine.
