بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
1. هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ

2. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ

3. عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ

4. تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً

5. تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ

6. لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيعٍ

7. لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ

12. فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ

13. فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ

14. وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ

15. وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ

16. وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ

17. أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ

18. وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ

19. وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
19. وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
20. وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
20. وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
21. فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
21. فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
22. لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
22. لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
23. إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
23. إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
24. فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ
24. فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ
25. إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ
25. إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ
26. ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ
26. ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
Hal ataaka hadeesul ghaashiyah
Wujoohuny yawma 'izin khaashi'ah
'Aamilatun naasibah
Taslaa naaran haamiyah
Tusqaa min 'aynin aaniyah
Laisa lahum ta'aamun illaa min daree'
Laa yusminu wa laa yughnee min joo'
Wujoohuny yawma 'izin naa'imah
Lisa'yihaa raadiyah
Fee jannatin 'aaliyah
Laa tasma'u feehaa laaghiyah
Feehaa 'aynun jaariyah
Feehaa sururum marfoo'ah
Wa akwaabum mawdoo'ah
Wa namaariqu masfoofah
Wa zaraabiyyu mabsoosah
Afalaa yanzuroona ilalibili kaifa khuliqat
Wa ilas samaaa'i kaifa rufi'at
Wa ilal jibaali kaifa nusibat
Wa ilal ardi kaifa sutihat
Fazakkir innama anta Muzakkir
Lasta 'alaihim bimusaitir
Illaa man tawallaa wa kafar
Fa yu'azzibuhul laahul 'azaabal akbar
Innaa ilainaaa iyaabahum
Summa inna 'alainaa hisaabahum
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?
Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,
Labouring (hard), weary,-
The while they enter the Blazing Fire,-
The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring,
No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari
Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.
(Other) faces that Day will be joyful,
Pleased with their striving,-
In a Garden on high,
Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:
Therein will be a bubbling spring:
Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high,
Goblets placed (ready),
And cushions set in rows,
And rich carpets (all) spread out.
Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?-
And at the Sky, how it is raised high?-
And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?-
And at the Earth, how it is spread out?
Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.
Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.
But if any turn away and reject Allah,-
Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment,
For to Us will be their return;
Then it will be for Us to call them to account.

13. فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ

14. وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ

15. وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ

16. وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ

17. أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ

18. وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ

19. وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ

20. وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
20. وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
21. فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
21. فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
22. لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
22. لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
23. إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
23. إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
24. فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ
24. فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ
25. إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ
25. إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ
26. ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ
26. ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ
1. الْغَاشِيَةِ (al-ghāshiyah) - The Overwhelming
Example Sentence: هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ (Hal atāka ḥadīthu al-ghāshiyah) - Has the story of the Overwhelming reached you?
Translation: Has the story of the Overwhelming reached you?
2. الْخَاشِعَةُ (al-khāshi‘ah) - The humble

Example Sentence: وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ (Wujūhuny yawma’idhin khāshi‘ah) - Faces that Day will be humble.
Translation: Faces that Day will be humble.
3. الْعَامِلَةُ (al-‘āmilāh) - The laboring

Example Sentence: عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ (‘Āmilatun nāṣibah) - Laboring, exhausted.
Translation: Laboring, exhausted.
4. النَّاصِبَةُ (an-nāṣibah) - The exhausted

Example Sentence: عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ (‘Āmilatun nāṣibah) - Laboring, exhausted.
Translation: Laboring, exhausted.
5. النَّارَ (an-nār) - The Fire

Example Sentence: تَسْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً (Taslā nāran ḥāmiya) - She will enter to burn in a blazing Fire.
Translation: She will enter to burn in a blazing Fire.
6. الْعَامِيَةِ (al-‘āniyyah) - The bubbling spring

Example Sentence: تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ عَانِيَةٍ (Tusqā min ‘aynin ‘āniyyah) - She will be given to drink from a bubbling spring.
Translation: She will be given to drink from a bubbling spring.
7. الْدَّرِيءِ (ad-darī’) - Thorns

Example Sentence: لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ دَرِيءٍ (Laysa lahum ṭa‘āmun illā min darī’ī) - They will have no food except from thorns.
Translation: They will have no food except from thorns.
8. الْجُوعِ (al-jū‘) - Hunger

Example Sentence: لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ (Lā yusminu wa lā yughni min jū‘) - It neither fattens nor avails against hunger.
Translation: It neither fattens nor avails against hunger.
9. الْنَّاعِمَةِ (an-nā‘imah) - The blissful

Example Sentence: وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَةٌ (Wujūhuny yawma’idhin nā‘imah) - Faces that Day will be blissful.
Translation: Faces that Day will be blissful.
10. الرَّاضِيَةِ (ar-rāḍiyah) - The content

Example Sentence: لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ (Lis‘īhā rāḍiyatān) - Satisfied with her effort.
Translation: Satisfied with her effort.
11. الْعَالِيَةِ (al-‘āliyah) - The exalted

Example Sentence: فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ (Fī jannatin ‘āliyah) - In an exalted Garden.
Translation: In an exalted Garden.
12. اللَّاغِيَةِ (al-lāghiyah) - The idle

Example Sentence: لَا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً (Lā tasma‘u fīhā lāghiyah) - You will not hear therein any idle talk.
Translation: You will not hear therein any idle talk.
13. الْعَيْنِ (al-‘ayn) - The spring

Example Sentence: فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ (Fīhā ‘aynun jāriyyah) - In it is a spring flowing.
Translation: In it is a spring flowing.

Example Sentence: فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ (Fīhā surūr marfū‘ah) - In it are raised couches.
Translation: In it are raised couches.
15. الْمَفْرُوشَةِ (al-manfūshah) - The spread out

Example Sentence: وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ (Wa namāriqu maṣfūfah) - And cushions lined up.
Translation: And cushions lined up.
16. الزَّرَابِيَّةِ (az-zarābiyyah) - The carpets

Example Sentence: وَزَرَابِيٌّ مَبْسُوطَةٌ (Wa zarābiyyun mabṣūṭah) - And carpets spread out.
Translation: And carpets spread out.
17. الْبِلِي (al-bilī) - The camel

Example Sentence: أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْبِلِي (Afalā yanzurūna ilā al-bilī) - Do they not look at the camel?
Translation: Do they not look at the camel?
18. السَّمَاءِ (as-samā’) - The sky

Example Sentence: وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ (Wa ilā as-samā’i kayfa rufi‘at) - And to the sky, how it is raised.

19. الْجِبَالِ (al-jibāl) - The mountains

Example Sentence: وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ (Wa ilā al-jibāl kayfa nusibat) - And to the mountains, how they are erected.
Translation: And to the mountains, how they are erected.
20. الْأَرْضِ (al-‘arḍ) - The earth

Example Sentence: وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ (Wa ilā al-‘arḍ kayfa sutiḥat) - And to the earth, how it is spread out.

21. الْمُذَكِّرِ (az-zakkir) - The one who reminds

Example Sentence: فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ (Fazzakkir innamā anta muzakkir) - So remind, you are only a reminder.
Translation: So remind, you are only a reminder.
22. الْمُسَيْطِرِ (al-musayṭir) - The controller

Example Sentence: لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُسَيْطِرٍ (Lasta ‘alayhim bimusayṭir) - You are not over them a controller.
Translation: You are not over them a controller.
23. التَّوَلِّي (at-tawallā) - The turning away

Example Sentence: إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ (Illā man tawallā wa kafar) - Except for one who turns away and disbelieves.
Translation: Except for one who turns away and disbelieves.
24. الْعَذَابِ (al-‘adhāb) - The punishment

Example Sentence: فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ (Fa yu‘azzibuhu allāhu al-‘adhāb al-akbar) - So Allah will punish him with the greater punishment.
Translation: So Allah will punish him with the greater punishment.
25. الْحِسَابِ (al-ḥisāb) - The reckoning

Example Sentence: ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ (Thumma innā ‘alaynā ḥisābahum) - And indeed, upon Us is its account.
