Old Business
Safety
Better communication: BOLO is sent out to the system about banned patrons.
Basement at Main isn’t the best environment. People have been saying they feel sick after being down there for an extended period of time.
Ryan Snodgrass is looking into it.
Fill out PITS report and cc chairs if you have issues after being down there.
Some members point out they can’t get in to open PITS reports. Fill out a new one even if it is for the same incident.
Not all members have access to IT help desk to report issues, or sometimes they are ignored.
Open Positions
99 APLE employees
Trying to fill Maker positions.
Trying to fill manager positions first.
Kent is still open.
Recent LOAs
Interns agreement-they can’t do our jobs, we won’t supervise them, we need to be notified if they are doing work similar to ours.
We have had them in the past, we just didn’t have any language that covers them in contract.
Degree requirements for specialists-If you have a degree that pertains to specialist position you will be a Grade 8 even if you don’t have an MLIS.
Upcoming policies
Whistleblower policy.
Jury duty-aligns with contract.
Attendance policy coming soon?
Drug policy coming soon?
New Business
Quarterly Report for Reassignments
We can see who subs the most, which people or places are getting pulled the most.
Report isn’t always accurate or full.
Can we have a Jotform or Googleform to fill out when people sub or are pulled?
Digital Equity Store
Lucas wants to present to unions about the store.
Presentation to some staff will be on Sept. 18.
Store for low cost electronic items like tablets and computers.
In the hot zones, we will have pop up stores: Open two days a week- will be at Main one day, another branch the next.
Based on income.
BGSU will look over the pilot after it is finished and see how well it went.
The library will hire 2 temp people to run the stores.
If permanent, will probably be CWA personnel.
If a piece of equipment is sold and there is an issue and they call a branch, will staff need to know how to troubleshoot it?
The idea is they will go to one of our tech libraries for 1-on-1 training, ie Kent or Mott.
There may be a librarian on hand to help?
Open Floor
Has anyone been scheduled to do the desk schedules at the branches?
Several different members do schedules for the branch.
Shouldn’t be assigned, it’s ok if you volunteer.
Should be the manager's responsibility.
New staff morale survey
Did they do anything with the last survey?
APLE didn’t get a heads-up about this.
Managers should know the results about the last survey.
Each branch should have had goals based on the survey.
Disconnect seemed to be between admin and the rest of the staff.
There was no follow through after that.
