Negotiations are still ongoing. Negotiators can’t talk too much about it. Only dues paying members can vote to ratify the contract.
APLE Matters will change to the week after the meeting so we can have the most recent meeting notes, articles and updates. If you have anything interesting to share, send to APLE officers. John, Joyce, and Eisha are curating interesting articles.
Thank you to Joyce for volunteering to fill the open trustee position.
There have been several new hires in the past few months.
If you are a mentor, be sure to send receipts to Carlye for reimbursement for APLE lunches.
Old Business
We still haven’t gotten a firm answer on the role of regional managers, including how engaged they should be with staff.
New hours going into effect in January. Managers should have informed staff after the recent meeting. Several branches are getting additional nights. Several options were considered, but it was decided that we would open at 9am and close 8:30pm. Jason said this was to facilitate meeting room time and program cleanup.
New Business
Sundays are time and a half. The hours are 1-5pm. Still figuring out how the quarters work. Will hopefully begin in January. The quarters are important for drafting purposes. You can only be drafted once per quarter. Recommended you volunteer at least once per quarter if you don’t want to be drafted. If you are lower in seniority, you will be drafted first. Main will not open on Sundays. LIL will be at Heatherdowns.
The sick leave bank is a system that helps if you are on long term sick leave and you’ve used up all your leave, SL, AL, PL. It’s a way to avoid leave without pay. Only 7 APLE members are contributing to it. If you are maxed out on SL, you can increase your donation. The form on the Intranet. You donate 2 hours a quarter.
You should have received your steps from June and Oct. 2020in Oct. 2021 retroactively. Reach out to chairs with questions.
We don’t know much about what happened concerning the cyber security incident. They have to legally tell us if our information was obtained. Take steps to protect yourself. Freeze your credit reports, ect.
Get in 2022 AL requests by Nov. 30. Ask chairs with questions about requesting for AL. The time period is February 2022-January 2023. Whoever has seniority gets first dibs if they submit by this day.
You can still take 30 minute lunches if you would like to and it fits in the schedule. Not a guarantee. Usually decided the day of. You can leave early if you work at 5:30 if the desk doesn’t need to be covered. Request time off if you need it. Uncertain about if you can come in later at 11:30.
Open Floor
TLCPL way—There are issues with the new way we communicate things, for example, the way the new hours were communicated to staff, or in this case, not communicated well.
Meeting adjourned at 7:56pm.
