Quarterly safety meeting on Nov. 29.
If anyone has anything they want on the agenda, email Steve, Teresa or Kim Fisher.
Any ideas are welcome as well.
Circ clerks are given panic buttons at Main for when they are in the shelves; could we have those for librarians as well?
Mobile services have panic buttons as well.
The business area would like some panic buttons.
People at Main aren’t thrilled with having to have fobs separate from their badges.
Open Positions
Kent needs to be filled.
Oregon needs help recently as well.
Quarterly Report for Reassignments
Report for sub-shifts and reassignments.
Question about subs: Many of them weren’t picking up.
Can we do something like what teachers do, having to pick up several hours a month at the least?
Digital Equity Store
Chairs met with Kathy, Cathy, and Lucas for a more thorough understanding of what our part will be in this.
New Business
North Star Assessments for Staff/One-on-Ones
Last week was a meeting with Allison to go over North Star and One-to-One.
Focus group assembled earlier this year.
Looking at the website to see if it makes sense to use it for classes or one-on-one sessions.
They want all adult service librarians to conduct one-to-one computer classes with people.
All librarians will need to take the North Star assessment and get a passing grade for 14 areas. We will have 6 months to pass, though this is still in discussion.
If you don’t pass you may need additional training.
We never trained our adult librarians to teach one-on-one classes.
Didn’t we get rid of one-on-one classes because all librarians should be able to handle showing people how to use computers?
People will be able to fill out a form online for a one-on-one and their preferred branch to do it. Branch will follow up with a time for them. Librarians can also fill out the form for someone to set up a time.
No open labs.
Patrons can go through self-guided courses.
November 30th AL Deadline
AL requests for February 2024-January 2025. It goes by seniority. Our requests go before managers.
We still use the form, then put in Kronos.
Business Cards
No longer printing business cards for us.
Do we want cards paid for by the union?
It would be generic so in case people move they can still use it.
Maybe printing our information on labels to put on the ones they gave us?
Small Business and Non-profit use them quite a bit.
They were not able to proof them before they were printed. They were printed incorrectly for all of the librarians.
Specialists will still get them. Some librarians still need them.
They should do a survey to see if we still need them.
We should be able to request them if we need them.
Communication tool can be used for this.
SL doctor’s note
For SL appointment people were being told they need to bring a doctor’s note every time they have one.
Irene said that will be required for all doctor appointments.
Only circ supervisors were told about this.
They are still finalizing what this will look like.
HR and Public Services are giving different answers.
Some people were told they need to use PL or AL if it’s less than 7 days notice.
Most doctors have a note you can give to your work.
Our contract states managers can ask for them if they suspect SL abuse.
MOU for SL limits is no longer in effect. APLE’s perspective is that we can use SL as outlined within our contract.
If you are brought before your manager for it, talk to APLE.
Managers seemed confused on SL.
There will need to be further discussion with HR.
You can sign up for SL Bank during Open Enrollment or when hired.
If you are maxed on SL, and have not been accumulating any, but then have to use all your hours… can you petition for the hours you lost?
Between SL and short-term disability, you should be covered.
Open Floor
Can we see the results from the staff survey?
Adjourn: 7:53pm
