Safety
Orbeez discussion-any gel blasters are considered weapons.
First tell them to take it home, they can come back when they return without it.
After first warning, they can be banned at the discretion of the branch.
Safety video reviews- a 20 minute video of trends, issues, ect.
May 3rd was the last safety meeting.
Appreciate safety reports at Main.
We need to know who is banned.
Big issues that happen, so we know what is going on in the building.
Don’t use guest passes as often.
We need to check if they are banned, ect.
Sign up for internet only card if necessary.

Zero-tolerance policy for patrons who cross boundaries with staff
Crossed boundaries is anything that makes you uncomfortable, verbal abuse, touching.
Training on High Youth Population is a great training video. (link)
What if manager didn’t agree with the boundary issue?
Put in PITTS
Talk with APLE chairs, Irene in HR.
Tell manager/supervisor right away if there is an issue.

Language on how they can be handled needs to be updated.

If an animal gets in your building, what do you do?
If it is a mini-horse or dog, as long as they are behaving, we don’t ask questions.

We have 92 APLE people.
Several new subs hired.
PT positions still open at Birmingham, Sylvania open.
Sunday scheduling resolution
Putting together language.
Will meet with the library on a yearly basis to go over Sunday scheduling.
You will not be punished for calling off on a Sunday.
Return Time
Managers were told to encourage employees to use RT in the same pay period.
That is not required, you can bank RT to taken whenever you want.
No continuing issues.

Two policies
Jury duty policy – aligns with our contract language.
Whistle blower policy – protection for whistle blowers, repercussions for people who lie.
Sick Leave Usage
MOU expired – SL levels no longer in effect.
Excessive SL usage – punitive for using too much..
Sick appointment – scheduled 7 days out.
Be mindful of your SL levels.
Discussion of potential MOUs
Internship MOUs – can’t do work, not part of regular schedule.
Language for site supervisors
Non-MLIS 8s
Specialists who don’t have an MLIS are 7s and not 8s
Masters or PhD equivalent to specialist position should be 8s even if they don’t have MLIS.
Changing language for 8s to have this opportunity.
New Weeding Process Feedback
Developing new weeding process
Pushing responsibility to people who are looking at the collections.
How is the workflow?
Working well.
More support if we want to keep something on the shelf.
Weeding 101 training is coming.
Clerks used to pull and withdraw without librarians looking at them.
Keep what looks good, informative, up to date.
If we need newer books, put it in suggestion list.
Main checks to see if the books are in the system.
Let Amy and Cindy know what works and what doesn’t for the new weeding lists.
Weeding lists should have reminder about looking at local materials.
Open Floor
Richard Gosser scholarship luncheon – $10,000 scholarship for applicants, 3 local seniors won.
Any high school seniors can apply.
Exempt have gone to merit based wage increases.
All regions should be in the same area.
