Safety
At safety meeting, Teresa and Steve asked about blocking content on computers, especially when kids sign in.
They were told you can put in specific websites to block, but it’s hard to catch every single site out there with questionable content.
You can call 911 on people shooting others with Orbeez; you don’t have to wait for security.
Fire panel wasn’t working at one of the branches.
Staff were told to walk around the branch once an hour to look for fire.
No other instructions were given.
Can we get further training on what to look for if there is a fire?
Send safety issues to Steve and Teresa to address.
For example, if your location is regularly scheduled to have a guard, and you are not assigned one, that is information that they would like to hear about.
New Business
Budget
$2,000,000 needs to be cut from this year's and next year's budget.
Admin asked APLE for ideas on cost saving in general, much like previous asks to all staff. APLE did not offer anything.
The Town Halls have not been as informative as staff would like.
Would like to see greater transparency about how much they have saved by the things they have already cut.
You can email Steve and Teresa with budget-cutting ideas.
Switching lights to LED, ect.
Some branches got rid of their black and white printer.
How much is the Call-Off Line going to cost?
How will these calls work?
Was calling in sick a significant problem?
Some managers won’t respond when texted by workers.
How much is the IT Call Center?
Sundays
Only Sanger will be open all year round.
The current contract says you can work up to 2 a month.
With only 1 branch open, can we make it fair so everyone gets a chance, so everyone only works 1 a month?
How would we change the procedure for the contract?
We could change the language with a temporary MOU.
Open Floor
Sanger and Washington closing
Getting Full-Time and Part-Time clerks, no librarians.
Sanger and Children’s asked why they didn’t get a librarian and didn’t hear anything.
West Toledo getting Washington AARP tax appointments.
Sanger told them to expect a lot more people, but they are not getting a lot more help.
Sanger expects not to have much off-desk time.
Do librarians answer the phones first at your branch or clerks?
Do librarians have receipt printers?
Children’s doesn’t have receipt printers or barcode scanners; they can’t print from Sierra either.
They handwrite a ton of card numbers daily.
The library has the capability to tell how many people are in the building, but it hasn’t been turned on. Can we do that?
Children’s and Mott have been inundated with kids this summer from youth groups.
We haven’t received data back yet from the Organizational Architecture survey.
Adjourn–7:52 pm.
