Old Business
Safety
We will be getting eye wash kits for the branches this year hopefully in Q2 or Q3.
The next quarterly safety meeting with unions and ELT should be in April.
When will staff get training on overdose kits?
Can we get hands-on training for AED devices?
New Business
New Policies
Disciplinary
Much of the policy language mirrors language from our contract.
Drug use
Policy is expanded from before.
Library didn’t have to expand policy.
Medical marijuana is now covered.
Marijuana is legal in the state, but not federally.
Attendance
The chart is confusing.
Policy seems draconian.
Contract language will override policy.
Coaching won’t go in your HR record.
With emergency makeup time, you can be late twice and make it up without being counted against you.
Checking the box in Kronos is not agreeing with the policy, just an acknowledgement that you got it.
Is there corrective action if you don’t sign in Kronos?
If you are sick and call in, the first day counts against you, but the second doesn’t if you call off more than 24 hours in advance? Still awaiting HR response.
SL vs SL appt? Might not be able to code SL Appointments less than 7 days in advance due to Kronos setting, but more than 24 hours notice won’t count against you.
FAQ session with HR was confusing.
HR noted The only way SL is excused is with FMLA. Conflicting information given out over different periods of time. COVID is still an excused absence.
Merchandising and Collection Feedback Jotform suggestions
Steve is meeting with Allison Fiscus and Kristie Lanzotti on April 9 to talk about creating a feedback form for people to complete about the merchandising and collection changes.
We first floated the idea of the jotform to Cathy Bartel and Jason.
Allison and Kristie will get jotform results.
Send Steve an email about what he should talk about with them and ideas add to the jotform if you have them.
Suggestion that all public service staff get the jotform, including shelvers.
Claire's Day May 2nd Evening Event- APLE to get table(s).
Claire’s Night: Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel at 6:30 pm.
TAAP will get a table and APLE gets two tables.
For dues paying members.
Cocktail attire. Heavy amounts of hor d'oeuvres to eat.
Let us know if you would like to go.
There are 12 spots.
You can bring a guest.
Send an email to Steven if you are interested.
Building Updates
1000 Adams St. was purchased in January.
It cost $900,000, plus required closing costs, which amounts to $865,000 for the real property and $35,000 for the personal property furnishing the building.
Possibly have a tenant, who aligns with library goals.
There will eventually be some sort of library facility in that space.
Not much communication on the purpose of what the building is being used for yet.
APLE will ask Jason to share more info
Suggestion that staff provide ideas for the building.
IMLS cuts / PLF status
IMLS cuts don’t have a monetary impact on us, but could affect getting federal grants down the road.
There are some concerns of cuts at the state level, but nothing immediate.
We are hopeful we will still get PLF increase this year. Library is advocating for an increase in PLF funding.
APLE merch
If yours was too big, fill out the form and send it back to Teresa.
