Safety
The chairs are part of the quarterly safety committee with CWA, management, and admin.
Bird strikes were mentioned again. On facilities radar. If birds are frequently flying into your windows, please let us know.
New safety manuals from Impact America. Steve is helping proofread manuals.
Let Steve and Teresa, Kim F. or Erin D. know if there are any safety issues.
Can we get a transcript for safety videos? Or even a summary?
Was anything mentioned about people being left in buildings? Has there been an increase in this happening? We haven’t heard of any increase in this circumstance.
Basement air quality at Main-everything is within Federal guidelines.
Can we ask them to clean the basement to a higher standard?
Open Positions
Birmingham, Washington, King Road, Reynolds Corners, Main Teen, all youth positions.
Making office will be near Fact & Fiction.
NorthStar Assessments for Staff/One-on-Ones
Make sure your manager gives you off-desk time to do it.
Claim a badge when you complete a test and print the test results. Badges are sent to your email.
Teresa can see the back end, in case you forget to claim a badge and print results, let her know.
Pete Wicks also was able to print test results.
Some questions seem subjective.
Be sure to review the test before you submit.
Digital Equity Store
Should be rolling out soon.
Terese and others are tasked with creating a starting guide for staff.
SL
Changes in how we code things in Kronos.
A doctor’s note is required for an SL appointment for preventative care.
Never brought to APLE.
It’s all SL no matter when you scheduled it.
Re-signing MOU about SL brought up–we will not be re-signing that.
Managers can’t tell APLE that you will be in corrective action if you use too much SL. Managers can have a conversation about the number of hours, but nothing beyond that.
Do we need a note? Yes, they can go directly to HR. It can be a generic note. Receipts will work, too.
Many doctors have generic notes you can get to show to your work.
New Business
Election Committee (motion required)
Cindy Vanderbrink, Heidi Yeager, Melissa Luthman, Lindsey Stockdale, Adrienne Amborski are the election committee.
If you are interested in running for a position, the committee will start soliciting for nominees. Must be a member in good standing.
Issues using Leave of various types
If anyone has any problems with managers, HR, or Finance using leave, let APLE know.
We will continue to have conversations with HR about how leave can be used for emergency purposes.
Separation
Asked about this term by members.
When you see this on the position update, it is a blanket term. Could be a termination or resignation.
Subbing
Certain locations or individuals are always getting pulled.
The library has to provide the union with a list of temporary reassignments.
Not as accurate as it should be.
CAM and RTR are being pulled frequently.
Easy to see trends for pulls.
Years ago, when we had several subs who worked full-time for HR and part-time people, we had more subs picking up hours.
Discussed some potential solutions – more subs, more part-time positions, full-time subs, etc.
PT people can pick up sub hours. Can PTII pick up 37.5 hours through sub-requests?
We need more PT people and subs picking up hours.
In November, a member was told no more AL could be approved because the library didn’t have any available subs and couldn’t pull people.
Open Floor
When HR was talking about the Staff Satisfaction Survey when asked if they would share the link for at least a summary, did APLE see anything about it?
APLE was not shown anything different.
We’ve asked about it but were just told it would be presented at Town Hall.
Steve will do some digging.
HR would like some of our PT people to work only when kids are in the building, like 12 to 5:30 pm. That can be very limiting. Makes it hard to plan programs or be on committees.
