Victory 240 rear tire mod

The Victory Judge, a 1730cc bike with that amount of weight and torque comes with a skinny 140 rear tire. The Dunlops handles, nimbles and didn't slip. Bu the skinny tire was an eye sore.  For awhile, I was using a 180 rear using 8ball rear wheel. This was a direct swap. The bike felt taller, but didn't feel eye candy enough.

I have only come across one modder who did a 280 rear and that included modification to the exhaust. My goal, was to do this mod keeping the oem exhaust and should be reversible.

Months ago, I had done a 23" front wheel with 50 fat spokes from Ride Wright. So the rear wheel  was done by them, using a Gunner/Judge hub.

First, got hold of a used rear sprocket and milled it down 5mm.  As this is a beefy component, structure was still intact. I had the confidence to ride with this as the after market sprockets were much skinnier.

Next was a spacer. This was 8mm thick. I got this idea when I saw a similar kit for HDs.

This was CNC'd locally.

Mounted it successfully. The clearance was minimal, but nothing was going to get there any way.

Shot from the inside. This is still on the OEM wheel.

The belt on the front drive moved further to the outside. But it wasn't scratching anything. All good to ride and test the spaced out rear sprocket.

Before I can swap the wheels, I had to remove the rear fender.

To remove the fender, I needed a new mount for the registration plate.

And to do that, I made new extensions that will be part of a new axle plate.

Perfect. Looks factory made.

New mount with splash guard. The blinkers fit there as well.

I made it extra long as the rear fender was still there at this time - mod was being done in a few different places, machine shop, weld shop and installation at my home.

Now I needed a new fender to accomodate the 240 rear. And I wanted to retain the OEM tail light.

So, got a damaged Judge fender and a new 240 fender from ebay. My trusty angle grinder did most of the cutting to shorten the rear fender and also the cut out to slide in the section from the Judge fender.

Welding in process.

The finished piece.

The subframe was cut and the seat was replaced from 2014 Judge. the 2013 Judge is a twin seat.

Pirelli 240s on 8.5" rear wheel.

All done. The first ride felt weird as the bike lost its nimbleness, but it had a slow fun turn in sensation.
