Smart Brake

The Thruxton R has a quick aggressive deceleration where brakes need not be applied for slowing down in traffic. This also means that the brake light is not activated. I am the worst advocate for safety, but being in a more responsible stage in my life, thought its no harm putting some money on this little investment, which may save me from accidents.

I got it during Christmas when there was a sale from ST2. https://safer-turn.com/smart-brake-module/

The easy bit is, placing it upright flashes the brake light during deceleration. Rotating it 180 degrees changes it to a steady state mode.

To do this mod, you need 3 T clips. ST2 did provide them. Not exactly the same looking, but theirs was thicker. A little more troublesome to install.

First step, find a space for the Smart Brake Module. I found a tiny empty spot just near the bottom of the battery, close to the right side plastic cover. Sits in perfectly.

Perfectly slotted in. Take note of 0 degree and 180 degree install for the preferred brake light activation mode.

I am not sure if flashing mode will destroy the brake LEDs prematurely, but using flashing mode for now. Some traffic authorities would not agree with the flashing mode as well.

This bit is a little messy. I connected it the light wiring harness, near the ECU. 2 for power and 1 for the brake light. The instructions comes with wire light codes, but I would recommend referring to the SLD from the manual just to be sure.

I connected them on the brake light wire end, as I didn't want to disturb the main wire harness. I still don't like how these are connected. May source for other type of T connectors.
