Below is a profile of Annie Leonhart, a major character in Attack on Titan and a Warrior from Marley who inherited the Female Titan.
Annie Leonhart was an Eldian Warrior from Marley and the inheritor of the Female Titan, a unique Titan known for its versatility in combat and ability to crystallize. She was born in Liberio’s internment zone and adopted by her father, who trained her harshly in martial arts to secure her future as a Warrior. At a young age, she was chosen to inherit the Female Titan and deployed on the mission to Paradis Island in 845, alongside Reiner Braun, Bertholdt Hoover, and Marcel Galliard, to reclaim the Founding Titan. As part of her cover, Annie joined the 104th Cadet Corps, graduating 4th in her class, and later became a member of the Military Police Regiment before her identity was revealed.
Annie was a teenage girl of short stature with a lean but muscular build, honed by years of intense martial arts training. She had pale skin, sharp blue eyes, and blonde hair usually tied into a bun or ponytail, which highlighted her cold and detached demeanor. Her expression was often emotionless, making her difficult to read. She frequently wore a hooded sweatshirt, even during her time in the Military Police.
In her Female Titan form (14 meters), Annie had a slender, athletic frame with exposed muscle and hardened features. The Female Titan was capable of precise martial combat, using her human training to devastating effect, and possessed the unique ability to harden parts of her body or fully encase herself in crystal.
Annie was introverted, cynical, and highly pragmatic, preferring solitude over teamwork. She often came across as cold, indifferent, and sarcastic, showing little interest in social interaction. Despite her distant nature, Annie was observant and respected those with strong convictions.
Deep down, she carried guilt and emotional conflict about her mission, particularly when innocent people or comrades suffered because of her actions. Her stoicism masked a vulnerable side, as her greatest motivation was her father’s plea for her to return home safely.
Annie’s sense of duty as a Warrior clashed with her personal feelings, creating an inner struggle between loyalty to Marley and the bonds she unintentionally formed in the 104th.
Childhood: Born in Liberio, Annie was taken in by her adoptive father, who trained her mercilessly in martial arts. Although his methods were harsh, his later plea for her to survive and return gave her a purpose beyond her duty as a Warrior.
Becoming a Warrior: Annie inherited the Female Titan at a young age. Her mastery of hand-to-hand combat and the Titan’s unique abilities made her one of Marley’s most valuable Warriors.
Paradis Mission (845): Alongside Reiner, Bertholdt, and Marcel, Annie infiltrated Paradis Island during the operation to capture the Founding Titan. After Marcel’s death, the group carried on with the mission, disguising themselves as refugees within the Walls.
104th Cadet Corps: As part of her cover, Annie joined the 104th, ranking 4th overall. While she kept her distance from most recruits, she demonstrated exceptional combat skills, even teaching Eren hand-to-hand fighting techniques.
Military Police Regiment: After graduation, Annie joined the Military Police, which allowed her easier access to information inside the Walls. Despite her role, she maintained her aloof persona and avoided unnecessary attention.
Revealed as the Female Titan: Annie’s true identity was exposed during her attempt to capture Eren Yeager. After a fierce battle with the Scouts, she encased herself in crystal, remaining trapped for four years. Upon awakening, Annie displayed growth and remorse, becoming more open with her former comrades and eventually fighting alongside them to stop Eren’s destructive plans.
