The Nine Titans were the nine unique powers descended from Ymir Fritz, who became the first Titan nearly 2,000 years ago. These powers were later inherited by her descendants and passed down among the Eldian people. The Nine Titans consisted of the Founding Titan, Attack Titan, Colossal Titan, Female Titan, Beast Titan, Armored Titan, Jaw Titan, Cart Titan, and War Hammer Titan. Each possessed distinct appearances and abilities, making them the most powerful weapons of their era. 

The origin of the Titans began with Ymir Fritz, who gained the Power of the Titans after making a mysterious pact. After her death, her remains were consumed by her three daughters under the command of their father, splitting her powers. Over generations, these powers further divided into the Nine Titans. They were used to establish the Eldian Empire, which crushed Marley and dominated the continent. However, internal conflict led to the Great Titan War, where Marley seized control of seven Titans. Only the Attack Titan and Founding Titan remained out of Marley’s grasp. Eventually, the Founding Titan was hidden on Paradis Island, while the other Eight Titans became weapons in the hands of Marleyan warriors. 

Each Titan had its own unique abilities. The Founding Titan could control other Titans and alter human memories, though only those of royal blood could fully wield its power. The Colossal Titan stood at an immense 60 meters, able to unleash devastating explosions and steam. The Armored Titan was covered in hardened armor, making it an unyielding force in battle. The Attack Titan could access memories from both past and future inheritors, embodying the will to fight. The Beast Titan took on animalistic forms and, under Zeke Yeager, could transform Eldians into Titans with his spinal fluid. The Female Titan excelled at combat and could attract Pure Titans with her screams. The Jaw Titan was small but agile, armed with powerful jaws and claws capable of breaking almost anything. The Cart Titan was quadrupedal, specializing in speed, stamina, and carrying heavy artillery. Finally, the War Hammer Titan could materialize weapons and structures from hardened Titan flesh, even being controlled remotely. 

The physiology of the Nine Titans varied greatly. Their heights ranged from the small Cart Titan (4 m) and Jaw Titan (5 m) to the enormous Colossal Titan (60 m), with most others averaging around 15 m. Their appearances reflected their power: some humanoid like the Female Titan, others monstrous like the Beast Titan. Inheriting a Titan always altered the size and shape of the host’s Pure Titan form, sometimes enlarging it, sometimes shrinking it. Age had little impact on their Titan bodies, though details like hair length could shift along with the user. When a person inherited multiple Titan powers, typically one form dominated in appearance and function, as seen with Eren Yeager’s Attack Titan, which retained its size and form even after absorbing both the Founding and War Hammer Titans.
