Marlo Freudenberg was a recruit in the Scout Regiment and a former private in the Military Police Regiment stationed in Stohess District. He was a graduate of the 104th Cadet Corps, though not from the same division as Eren Yeager. 

Marlo was a tall young man with a diamond-shaped face, black bowl-cut hair, and intense gray eyes. His expression was usually stoic and serious, giving him a composed yet determined appearance. He typically wore his Military Police Regiment uniform before later joining the Scout Regiment. 

Marlo was known for being deeply righteous and idealistic. Unlike many who joined the Military Police to live safely away from Titans, he enlisted because he wanted to uphold justice and fight corruption. His ambition was to rise in rank and eventually reform the organization, putting an end to the exploitation of the people.

Despite his strong ideals, Marlo was willing to make moral compromises if it meant achieving his goals, admitting that he could act like “scum” to climb the ranks. His unwavering dedication to justice often drew comparisons to Eren Yeager, as both shared a fiery passion for their beliefs.

At first, Marlo believed in the natural righteousness of humanity and viewed morality in simple terms of good and evil. However, over time, he came to realize that it was the system itself that bred corruption, pushing people into selfishness and abuse of power. This shift in perspective made his ideals more grounded and mature.

Early Career: Marlo trained in the 104th Cadet Corps, though he was in a different division than the main characters. After graduation, he joined the Military Police Regiment, stationed in Stohess District.

Growing Doubts: While serving in the Military Police, he quickly became disillusioned by its widespread corruption and abuse of power. He openly criticized his superiors, believing that the organization had abandoned its true duty to the people.

Transition to the Scouts: Realizing he had chosen the wrong path, Marlo eventually aligned himself with the Scout Regiment. His conviction led him to make the switch official, dedicating himself to a cause he truly believed in.

Wall Maria Campaign: Prior to the mission to reclaim Wall Maria, Marlo expressed great excitement and determination. He saw this as a chance to fight for justice and prove himself as a soldier willing to sacrifice for humanity’s survival.

Death: During the Battle of Shiganshina District, Marlo joined the suicidal charge led by Erwin Smith against the Beast Titan. Showing no hesitation, he fought with resolve until he was struck down by a barrage of thrown stones. Marlo’s death embodied his ideals—sacrificing himself for the future of humanity.
