Definitions

The following are terms commonly used in the scheduling and registration process.

PREREQUISITE

A prerequisite is a course that is required before a student may enter that course. Students are not allowed into a course if the prerequisite is not met. Example: Most art classes require the passing of Art Fundamentals. Choral classes may require an audition before the class begins.

CLASS STANDING

Placement in some course work is dependent on class standing. For successful progress toward graduation, a student should complete a minimum of 7 credits per year

TERM

A term lasts 9 weeks and consists of four 83 minute class periods each day. Passing a one term, 83 minute class results in 1/2 credit. No credit is obtained for an “F” grade in a class.
