Ziyad began his Master of Science (Thesis) in Transportation Engineering in January 2026 under the supervision of Dr. Tae J. Kwon. His research interests focus on the application of artificial intelligence and data-driven modeling techniques to transportation engineering problems, with an emphasis on intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and infrastructure analysis.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Systems and Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University. His undergraduate studies emphasized engineering problem-solving, data analysis, and machine learning. His graduation project involved developing a multimodal AI-based system that integrated computer vision, speech processing, and large language models within a real-world engineering application.
Ziyad has gained both academic and industry experience through internships and research training programs. He worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Siemens EDA and as a Service Engineer Intern at Siemens Healthineers, where he contributed to data-driven systems, software development, and engineering workflows. He also participated in an international research training program at Westlake University in China.
Outside of his academic work, Ziyad enjoys traveling, exploring interdisciplinary engineering applications, and working on projects that combine AI, software engineering, and real-world systems.
