Misbah is a 3rd Year Computer Engineering (Software Co-op) student at the University of Alberta, currently working as a Research Assistant under the supervision of Dr. Tae J. Kwon. His work with the GeoTrans Lab focuses on AI-enabled solutions for advancing winter transportation in Edmonton, combining his background in software development and machine learning with transportation engineering challenges.
He has previously contributed to projects including a brain tumor classification model for MRI scans, a multimodal video analysis tool for DoubleSpeed.ai, a property recommendation system for AutoMax.ai, and an intelligent medical insurance form assistant for Mandolin.ai. His technical experience spans Python, C++, Java, and modern web frameworks. His research interests include applying AI/ML to real-world infrastructure problems, developing reproducible data pipelines, and building intelligent systems that bridge software and civil engineering domains.
Outside of his studies and research, Misbah serves as Vice President External for the University of Alberta Computer Engineering Club, where he builds partnerships with industry and oversees outreach initiatives. He also enjoys competitive programming and following developments in financial markets.
