Aisha is a Computing Science undergraduate student at the University of Alberta and a Research Assistant with the GeoTrans Lab, where she contributes to the City of Edmonton’s traffic mobility project. Her work involves rerunning, adapting, and enhancing kriging and graph neural network (GNN) models to improve traffic prediction performance, as well as designing user interfaces for managing transportation databases and model result outputs.
She brings prior industry experience from her 8 month co-op with the City of Edmonton’s Rapid Development Services team, where she worked on full-stack software development projects, including REST API design, integration, and deployment of internal tools. She also has project experience with recommendation systems, Financial Analysis with LLMs, and AI chatbots, bridging machine learning with practical applications.
Aisha’s technical background includes Python, C++, Java, JavaScript/React, SQL, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and web development frameworks. She is particularly interested in combining AI/ML modeling with scalable software systems to create tools that directly support infrastructure, urban mobility, and public sector decision-making.
Beyond this, Aisha is actively engaged in the tech community as the Vice President of Product at the Blueprint UAlberta Chapter and as a Intel oneAPI Student Ambassador.
