During his recent sabbatical in Korea, Dr. Kwon made significant contributions to the academic and research community, delivering insightful presentations at more than ten different venues including workshops, research seminars, and conferences.
His expert talks focused on key topics such as the strategic implementation of winter Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), methodologies for monitoring and estimating winter road surface conditions, and the use of geostatistics and deep learning to advance winter transportation safety, mobility, and sustainability.
Some of the notable events include the 2022 KOSEN Bridge Forum, the 2022 International Conference for Road Engineers, and the 40th Anniversary of the International Conference of the Korean Society of Transportation. Moreover, he led research seminars at esteemed institutions such as Seoul National University and KAIST.
In addition to this, Dr. Kwon served as an invited researcher at the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, collaborating on cutting-edge research related to Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS). Through these engagements, Dr. Kwon was able to both disseminate his knowledge and gain valuable insights from Korea's vibrant transportation and civil engineering sectors.
