School Council Promises
When the children were elected as School Council, we talked about what would make a good School Councillor and we all agreed on some rules - 'Our School Council Promises'. (See below)
We will be meeting up regularly to talk about the ways in which we can ensure that our school remains the best possible place to for all of our children and teachers to learn in.
Health Promoting School:
In order to support both our children and parents in continuing to promote healthy food choices, the School Council have spent time monitoring school dinners and packed lunches. We worked together to think of some healthier snack options for packed lunches and discovered a new app which you can use to scan foods in the supermarket to find healthier alternatives. The school council gave feedback to their classmates and a letter was then sent out to all of our parents to support Sunnymede in continuing to be a health promoting school.
Please find the letter and link to the app below:
Dementia Friendly Schools Award:
We are delighted to announce that Maureen Lee came to speak to all of Year 2 pupils and School Councillors about Dementia. We listened carefully about what dementia is and how it can affect people. We also thought about what actions we could do to help people living with dementia, such as being more patient, smile, be kind, friendly and talk to them. We are now all 'Dementia Friends' and have received our badges. The School Councillors hope to go and visit Anisha Grange Care Home soon, and we will be working towards achieving 'The Billericay Dementia Friendly Schools Award' this year.
