July 2025 - Carnival of cultures week
Year 2 learnt about Sweden and enjoyed making some traditional food. They also had a food tasting session. They tried Swedish Meatballs, Cinnamon Buns, Lingonberry Jam and Knackerbrod.
Year 4 have been studying Billericay on the map and they plotted their route to the High Street before they left. They tried to find where they were on the map when they arrived to a new place in the High Street.
June - year 5
As part of our geography field studies, year 5 conducted a traffic survey on Greens Farm Lane. Using a line of enquiry, some of us investigated the most popular mode of transport, while others explored the most popular colour of car and the most popular Make of vehicle. An enquiry question refers to a question that guides the investigation and exploration during fieldwork activities. These questions help us to explore geographical concepts and develop our understanding.
Year 6 Geography
Year 6 have learnt about the structure of the Earth and the movement of the plates. They have studied volcanoes that form along the crust because of this. Would you want to live near a volcano? Believe it or not, there are some benefits as shown in our work
As part of our Geography, we walked to Billericay High street and visited our local library.
In Geography, year 2 have been learning about the World. They looked at the globe and identified countries near and further away from the equator. We found out that the Arctic is in the Northern Hemisphere and it is a cold region. We used made Arctic landscapes and identified both human and physical features.
Orienteering
Year 6-
To help develop our map skills, we have been reading and writing four and six-figure grid references on maps. We also recognised different geographical map symbols. In order to apply these skills, we completed some field work around the school’s grounds using an aerial view of the school.
