Graphite Self Portrait

The main idea that guided my artwork was my love for all things strange. I wanted to combine my skill with graphite with something surrealist. The self-portrait was already pretty difficult so I figured after I did a little more than half I would merge something weird with it.

I used graphite pencils on pastel paper. This made it easy to blend and bring out the highlights of the piece.

This work was a learning process for me. I had used graphite and blending to attempt to make it realistic, but it would never turn out as well as this did. It was an experience where I was able to learn how to correctly create something like this.
