Imagination Train

Red and blue pen

9"x12"

My artwork was entirely unplanned. I was trying to figure out what really just felt right. There are so many meanings and references in this piece. For example, it is titled Imagination Train for a reason. The train is rushing through while the faces are imagining the art into existence. The train symbolizes our thoughts rushing faster than we can write down. The faces are me, trying to put down my imagination as lines to try to show what I was thinking and feeling.

The materials I used were red, blue, and black pen on drawing paper among the ink splatters.

I made this purely from imagination. I try to not use references and go from my head. I love using pen because it has the possibility of making mistakes and not being able to erase. This opens up a whole new world for creativity. A mistake is just a new opportunity for something even greater than the original idea because you have no idea where it leads. I draw what I like and that often expands. I started drawing eyes years ago, and that would be just about the only thing I drew but as time goes on I learn new things. I don't want to draw something I don't like, that is just a path to boredom. I can expand on my own, and it has lead to me being able to create this particular piece. My goal in this was to fill the page as much as possible and I feel as though I succeeded.
