Musique Arc-en-ciel

Oil paint, Guache, Coloured Pencil, Salt

6"x9"

The main idea that guided my artwork was the song "La Fille Sans Larmes" by Lo Mimieux. As someone who can visualize music very easily this project was effortless to come up with inspiration. I often put on music when I draw to get the inspiration flowing; this time was no exception. I wanted to use darker colours for the people and action in the front to make the rainbow sounds pop.

For the materials, I used way more tools than I usually do. I used Oil paint, water colour, coloured pencil, and salt. The salt was used in the rainbow sound to give texture and design to it. I wanted to use oil paint to get that dark, mysterious look. I used coloured pencils to crisp up the lines and colours.

My thought process was somewhat straightforward. I knew what aesthetic and design I wanted before I began. I looked up a lot on orchestras, specifically violinists. I wanted to express what I see in music, as I find it difficult to verbally articulate those feelings.
