A Poodle With Dog Show Obstacles

9"x 12"

Colored pencil and Sharpie Marker.

This piece of work started from when we were handed a piece of paper with ink already on it. When I saw the shape of the black ink I immediately thought of a poodle. Some of the poodle features the ink illustrates is a tail hanging off the behind. I also saw a leg but at first not a dog leg. At first I thought the leg would be too wide but I think it ended up turning out ok. Once the poodle was drawn I decided to turn it into a dog show theme and that is what the obstacles in the background represents. The dog bone in the back is supposed to represent the playful side of the dog.

The materials used for this project were colored pencils and a thin point sharpie marker. I colored the dog that way because I wanted it to be unique. The bone is colored with orange because I tried to only use one color once and that is a color that wasn't used yet. The yellow on top of the tire hoop and inside the medal are supposed to represent a golden color. Last the seesaw is colored brown because that is supposed to represent a wood color. As you may notice one of the seesaw parts is colored silver and that is supposed to represent a bolt. The sharpie marker was used for giving everything a clear outline

The only research done for this project was what obstacles were used for dog shows. I had to look this up because I wanted a background that represented my original theme. One thing I practiced was the bubbled # sign. I practiced this as it was my first time doing it so I wanted it to look good. I also practiced drawing a straight line for the posts without a ruler as this is a necessary skill to have in architecture class. The main revision here was fixing the poodles head because I didn't like the way it was originally shaped. One experiment I did was I started out with trying to do an ostrich but quickly realized the tail was out of place and that it was too hard to connect the neck to my continued body.
