For this artist statement, I am choosing to write about the summative school perspective drawing. For this piece of work, the idea was that we needed to show our understanding of how to draw a hallway in one and two-point perspectives. For this project, it began with us going out into the school halls and finding a hallway we wanted to draw. After we found our hallway we took a picture of it and it was time for us to start drawing from the photograph we had. For this piece, my idea behind the color choice was that I wanted to incorporate some of my own colors to spice it up but to also follow a little realism. For example, the black part of my floor is what the floor looks like in the hallway that I chose. Also, the lockers are also the color they are in the picture. One part I enhanced with color was the ceiling. For this, I chose to do a light brown color because the ceiling tiles are normally white and I tried to minimize white space.

For this assignment, the materials I used were Graphite Pencils, Printmaking Paper, Sharpie, a Ruler, and Colored Pencils. I used the graphite pencil to draw my lines, to begin with and make a rough outline. For this, I chose an HB pencil because it is light and forgiving if you make a mistake. The next material we used was obviously printmaking paper. We chose this style of paper because it is big enough that you can draw the hallway plus add a few things on. The next material I used was a thin point sharpie. I used the sharpie because I wanted to make my lines dark because in perspective drawing lines can get confusing since there is so much erasing. My next material used was a ruler and I used this to create straight lines in particular to the vanishing point. The last material I used was colored pencils. The colors I chose were Pink, Red, Brown, Black, Grey, and yellow. Although these colors worked alright I wish I would have used different colors because it could have enhanced the look of my project.

For this project I did lots of research. Some of the things I researched was how to draw lockers, lights, and bricks. I researched these things because obviously they are gonna look different when you are drawing from one point perspective. The only practice I did was drawing the lockers. I am glad I practiced them because I now knew how to figure out where to place the lockers so they would look flush against the wall. One thing that I did revise in this project were my bricks. I revised them because I didn't like the spacing between each brick and if you look at the photograph I originally took there were two types of bricks one big and one smaller. For this project the only experimenting I did was with color. I experimented with the idea of realism and false colors meshed together.
