For this artist statement, I am choosing to write about the formative practice sheet we did. For this work, we needed to turn circles into spheres. We did this by shading and overlapping colors. The goal of this assignment was to practice this skill so we were ready for the summative project for this assignment. For the summative project, we needed to show this skill thru drawing candy. For the formative project, we practiced with many different materials so when we needed to create the final we had all the necessary skills with a variety of materials. In conclusion, the idea behind this "practice" or formative project was to build shading skills to turn circles into spheres so we were ready for the summative project.

For this project, the materials used were Markers, Colored Pencils, Watercolor Paint, and Watercolor Paper. In this project, I used marker because one of the spheres needed to be shaded with marker. I used colored pencils in this project because that was another requirement for one of the spheres. I also used watercolor paint because there was one sphere that needed to be that color. In the last sphere, I used a mix of colored pencil and marker because I liked the contrast and tone difference it created. The last material I chose was watercolor paper because I knew that it could hold the watercolor that I needed to use. I also used this color because of the fact that I knew it was sturdy and wouldn't get damaged.

For this project, it was pretty simple because there were no major changes. The only change that I made throughout this whole process was that I decided to use grapes on my summative instead of candy. For the formative project, the only research I did was how to turn a circle into a sphere and pretty much everyone did this because we all watched a video on it. For this project, we did one major thing of practice and that was the formative project. In this project, we learned all the necessary skills in order to make our summative project look better. For this formative project, I made no revisions. If this had been a summative project I think that I would have changed the color choice because the colors are too similar. For this overall assignment, the main experiment I did was I switched to grapes instead of candy.
