Acrylic on Canvas

For this project we had to create a collage and then recreate it by painting it. For this project you could chose to exactly copy the work through using the same colors or you could make it your own and falsify the colors. For this project I chose to make most of the colors the same in what they were during the original collage. This project also showed our understanding of mixing paint to make other colors because we needed to make shades of the colors we didn't have. The main idea that really guided this project was the March Madness tournament. I chose the teams that I found the most interesting to watch during the tournament.

For this project the materials were rather simple. The only two materials that I used was acrylic paint and canvas. One reason that I chose to use acrylic paint is that we were taught how to use it during the last project. I also chose to use acrylic paint because I know that it drys fast and that is important because you must add many layers. Obviously we were going to use canvas to paint on because it absorbs the wet paint the best.

For this project the research was rather limited. The only research that I did was I looked at the teams in the March Madness tournament. Once I found the teams with the best logos I made sure to print them. For this there was really no practice. The only thing that we needed to do was cut out images and then paste them. For this project I did need to make some revisions. One revision that I made was that I made all of the colors a little darker. I did this because when the paint bled over it was harder to cover the lighter colors. For this project I really never had to experiment other than the fact that I needed to mix colors for a while to make them close to the original colors.
