A Creature With a Mouse Head, Lizard Body, and Caterpillar Feet.

9"x 12"

Colored pencils, Sharpie marker pen, and ruler.

For this project I picked a prompt from a list on google docs. The prompt I picked was a creature with a mouse head, Lizard body, and Caterpillar feet. For the mouse head I really had no theme to follow. But the lizard body I chose the geico gecko. I chose this because I wanted to create a creature with the most human features possible. For the caterpillar feet I was not basing it off anything other than real caterpillars. Obviously the background was inspired by the geico gecko because geico sells auto insurance.

For this project I used colored pencils, a thin point sharpie marker, and a ruler. The colored pencils were used in a certain place because I based it off of certain things in real life. For example the letters are colored blue because in real life Geico Insurance uses blue letters. The grey is used on the mouse head because that is their normal color. The green is used for the geico gecko body because that is how he shows up in their commercials. The caterpillar feet were randomly chosen but the road is colored like a real life road. The thin point sharpie was used to outline things in the background and in the creature. Last the ruler was used to create a straight line for the top and bottom of the road.

For this process I did a little bit of research. My only research done was how to draw the geico gecko's body because I didn't really know the outline of him. The only practice I did was drawing bubble letters. I practiced this because of the fact that most times I cannot master them on the first try. I also wanted to practice the letter E the most because that is one of the harder letters for me to draw. I did revise a little because of the fact that I didn't like the connection of how the caterpillar feet fit on the creature. I did very little experimenting other than just trying to redo the caterpillar feet because the style I chose the first time didn't flow into my project and I still feel that way a little bit about them.
