Marker, Colored Pencil, and Drawing Paper

For this project the guidelines were pretty loose. I chose to use colored pencils and markers for my project. This was closest to a mixed media drawing because I used more than one thing material to color my project. The main idea that guided my artwork was the upcoming summer break. I chose to do the upcoming summer break because everytime I sat down to design my project I felt like something internally was just calling me to design something connected to summer. I chose to use colored pencils on this project because it was my favorite material to work with because it just feels so relaxing. I think that it is helpful to use colored pencils because when focusing on details it makes the time go by faster.

For this project the materials were rather simple. The first material that I used were colored pencils. I chose to use colored pencils because I have the most experience with them and because I like the crisp colors that they produce. The next material that I chose to use were markers. I chose to use markers because of the bold colors that they create. I mainly used markers for the background so that it would make the images and shapes within the project pop and stand alone. The final material that I used was drawing paper and I used this paper because I knew that it could hold markers pretty well.

For this project the process was rather simple. For this project I really never needed to research. I never really needed to research other than what type of project I wanted to create. I knew once I wanted to do a summer theme what symbols are commonly associated with summer. For this project I never really practiced. The only practice that I did was drawing the ship and skim board. I knew that I would need to practice the skim board because I wanted a proportionate drawing of one because I didn't want it to become lopsided. I also needed to practice the boat a little because the sails were such a unique shape. For this project I never really made any revisions. The only revision that I made was I replaced a beach towel with they image of a glass of lemonade. For this project I really never experimented with anything because I had used these materials so many times so I felt comfortable using them again.
