Self Portrait 2020: My Ideas were to just go with the self-portrait based on what I was wearing at the moment and not changing anything. I also tried to add some shading to the self-portrait and I added little because I didn’t think there was much. I chose to make it black and white because it was a simple sketch done within the twenty minutes given during class. As I do with most projects I just used a regular standard pencil or a mechanical pencil sometimes using the 4b pencil I had with me to do some shading in spots here and there. My first process was to do the outline first so I could adjust and make the face plus the outline of the body was easier to start with to bring me with ideas of where I would want to place things. Once I got to the face, I decided to add my lips and eyes through what I saw in the mirror. Then I added finishing touches keep in mind this was just to keep the artwork a simple sketch. The main evolving piece in this art is the outline of everything to the details being brought in like the eyes and the pupils and the lips and the cracks in the lips and so on. my next step is to add even more detail take more time with different pieces of the face.

The Room Perspective Drawing: I decided to use a corner in my room and base that as my perspective piece, I went simple with what was in front of me which was the closet door and my Michigan Jersey, and so forth. I chose this corner because it’s the corner with fewer things and it was in front of me at the moment. I used a pencil and a mechanical pencil to get the lines right and add a little texture. I decided to start with sketching the are from top to bottom with a simple outline to then elaborate on to make some more detail but of course, there isn’t as much detail to be shown in the drawing as I would hope. It went from the basic outlines to more of a room that feels boring but has some things in it that make you wonder about the person who lives or sleeps in the room and where the door goes to. My next step is to find a way to add detail to the walls to make it look more like a photograph.

Desktop Drawing: The idea was to show what I am working with, and what is on my desk in the moment of drawing this and what my desk is usually like when I am working. This was a project given to me for the class as a quick twenty-minute sketch. I used a regular pencil to outline the things and surrounding things near my desk and on my desk. I started with the outlining and figuring out how to give detail to certain things to differentiate them from the desk like the curtain and the wall behind the desk. I also wanted to differentiate the things on my desk so for example with my phone I added the lock screen and what time it is. It evolved when I added certain details such as the phone being on and the video games in the corner and the curtains behind the desk. My next step is to maybe expand the desk and what’s on it instead of just showing one side of my desk.
