Artist Statement: In both, pieces of work I was trying to portray a three dimensional perspective of a place people can relate to such as a hallway and a room which can be interpreted by the viewer. In the hallway perspective I was trying to bring a worn vibe to the depiction of the hallway, I was trying to show how places grow old too. The vines in the drawing and the cracks in the doors and the ceiling were to show that places grow old and sort of what I think could happen to my house in 100 years. The hallway and the bedroom I relate with because the hallway is based on the hallway I wake up to every morning before going downstairs. The room is sort of what I imagine when going down to my basement and how it used to look like when I first came to his house interestingly enough, even though the room perspective was just making a random room.

I used a ruler and a 2h and 2b pencil to get the lines down and make the basic lines and then the defined lines that will make the whole perspective come together. For the hallway perspective I used these materials and I also used a photo reference of the hallway I wake up to. Then once I had gotten the lines for the overall hallway down I used a photo reference for vines to bring the vines in to give it the worn effect. To make it look like the hallway had been sitting there waiting for someone to come and clean it up and make it there own.

I started with the basic lines of the drawing getting the rectangular form of both the room landscape and the hallway linear aspects. I made the lines of the outlines of both the room perspective and the hallway perspective to make them really feel like a room and a hallway. Once I had gotten the basic lines down I started putting emphasis on the vines and giving it the old aspect and the feel of a hallway that is forgotten. It went from those basic lines I mentioned earlier to being more than a hallway but being a hallway that makes the viewer think what actually happened to it. My next steps in my opinion would be to add color and maybe even add another different aspect to the drawing like maybe having an animal in it. This would be to try and make it feel more wondrous to the viewer and the color would be there to make it more realistic.
