A Tree Of Organs

9" x 12"

Marker, sharpie, thin point ballpen, HB graphite pencil, oil-based paint sharpie, letter stencils, colored pencil.

With this piece I wanted to show how one could incorporate nature with human bodies and this organ donation assignment was a perfect way. I feel as though I was able to incorporate nature, and also something nature provides that the human body needs while showing different parts of the human body, and creating a cool slogan to match perfectly with my art piece.

To create this piece, I started out with my rough draft and then began to sketch out my tree with my HB graphite pencil. After I felt as though my tree was as I wanted it to be, I then proceeded to draw in my organs. with that, I took my ballpoint pen and outlined all of my organs and the tree. next, it was time for the letters. I picked out the proper stencil that best fit with my piece, and outlined my letters, then filled them in with a grey thin-point sharpie. Finally, I took my oil-based paint sharpies and my markers and filled in my tree and organs, finishing with a colored pencil background.

There was not a ton of research done to create this piece, I rather used a lot of references to refer to. first I needed to pick the proper tree I wanted, as I decided the best-looking tree was a more realistic but cartoon-colored tree. Then, after sketching my tree based on my reference, I needed to look up a few different organs and find good images of them I could refer to. Lastly, I used all of my references to create 2 sketches and a final draft, and can now call this a finished piece. Overall I am happy with the result, but could always critique it and make it better if given the opportunity.
