paint, canvas
I usually use my dog for most/all of my projects in both art and photography because she is probably my favorite thing, and I find myself enjoying projects more if I use her as the subject. It can be really challenging to try and use her as the subject some of the time like in projects like this where it gets more complicated to use an animal as the base, but it's still more enjoyable for me and I like the finished product more this way so I keep doing it.
I used Blick paints on a canvas for this project. I also used a lot of tape, especially in the background, to get cleaner lines, and I like the way that came out but it did leave a bit of a bumpy line on the edges. It definitely made getting a clean line easier, but it took a lot longer because I had to wait for everything to dry fully before putting the next tape line in so it didn't peel everything up.
For this project I struggled to find a way to fit all 84 colours comfortably into the design. You can see where some of the sections had to be split so they could all fit, but I like how it turned out in the end. I also struggled trying to pick sections for certain colours that would look good with the colours next to them as well, and while there are some sections I would change going back, I think they all look pretty nice, and each colour with all its variations are close together and that was most important to me anyway. I was set on making the colours the stripes on my dog River, and while it was challenging I still prefer it to a more geometric pattern I think.
