coloured pencil, bristol board, sharpie
When we were talking about what things were circular, I thought of things that I use every day first. For me, this was mostly things to do with my dog. Dogs as a whole are my favourite hobby, and I use various things when working with my dog every day. Various different collars, toys, rewards, etc. Some things I had played with the idea of using were a frisbee, a few different collars and a few other types of rewards. What I decided on using was my e-collar (not a shock collar) remote, my clicker, and a tennis ball. I chose these three things because if you know anything about seriously working with dogs in a training and sport aspect, than you know that these three items each belong to very different concepts, categories, and even types of people within the training. They can even belong to entirely different quadrants of operant conditioning if used in different ways. I use all three of them almost daily to work on a variety of things with my personal dog, and I wanted to show all three of them together because there is no reason they can't all be used together and be just as effective if not more so.
I used coloured pencil for this project because I was hoping to be able to mix colours a little better, but I really don't love the way it came out when using the pencils. Using coloured pencils is really difficult if the pencils aren't super nice because they don't blend as well, but I did what I could. If I were to redo it I think I would go back to my preferred medium of water colours.
I spent a lot of time laying out my paper to start with, making sure that everything had a basic outline and was well proportioned. I still like the concept of what I made, but I do really think the material would have made the difference. I am happy with the way the paper is laid out though, and if I were to do it again I would definitely keep it more or less the same.
