Artist Statement

For this project, I decided to demonstrate the harmful human impact on the environment through photography. On my trip to South Carolina, I noticed a forest fire on the side of the highway while stuck in traffic, and decided to take a picture of the smoke clouds. Wildfires are primarily caused by human activities such as debris burning and campfires, exacerbated by rising temperatures due to climate change. I chose this theme to connect to my SI 6 where i painted a forest fire.

For materials, I did not have my camera with me so I used my iPhone, as well as the Light Room editing app to edit the photo.

I went through a few processes while taking this photo. I took various photos at different angles from the window to show perspective. Afterward, I downloaded the Light Room app on my phone to play around with the contrast and dimension to make the colors of the sky more saturated, and the smoke darker.
