Artist Statement

For this project, I aimed to showcase the positive impact humans can have on the environment through a vibrant cartoon/logo illustration, emphasizing the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling. The illustration features a person holding two bags: one labeled "Zero Waste" to highlight the significance of minimizing waste, and another adorned with a recycle symbol to underscore the importance of recycling. 

For this project, I used a variety of colored pencil on watercolor paper for vibrant colors and shading. The design was intentionally kept simple yet impactful, with bold colors and clean lines. I went through a few processes while creating this piece. I began by s I experimenting with colored pencil and building layers to make it saturated. I wanted the desighn to look almost like pop art/cartoonish, so I focused on creating a simple design with loud colors and black outlines. I also focused on pattern with this work, making the background shades of yellow and orange to draw your eye and emphasize the person holding the bags.
