Gelatin Prints
For this project we took gelatin squares, ink, and objects to create prints. First we started with leaves to make the prints and then picked two other objects to make six more prints. We put ink on a gelatin slab, then we placed our object on the ink, and then put paper over the object and pressed down. When we removed the paper we were left with the negative space of the object. Then we took the object off the ink and placed the paper over the gelatin slab. When we remove the paper, we were left with the positive space because the paper picked up the pattern inside the object. After we repeated step two, but because not much ink was left not much was picked up on the paper, and that was the "ghost" print.
Once we did those steps for leaves and two more objects, we chose one to extend. I chose my positive space feather to extend. I wanted to make the feather to look like a peacock feather, so I used colored pencils to color in the white space. Then around the border I drew more peacock feathers and a peacock.
At first my colors were really light, so I colored them darker to make them bolder. i thought a peacock was a good bird to base my feather off of because they have a lot of colors that are bold and bright.
