Animal Assemblage

The point of this project was to make any animal out of different materials; people either chose to make their animal out of newspaper or out of cardboard. I decided to make mine out of cardboard. We also had to find a way to add color without using paint or marker.

For my animal I decided to do an elephant. I first drew an annotated sketch of my elephant describing what material I would put where. I first traced my elephant head and trunk out of cardboard. Then I made three layers of the head and four layers of the trunk adding little pieces of cardboard in between for more height. I then made the ears for my elephant. I covered the ears in pink and purple paint chips for the color attaching them onto the ear with hot glue. I then used blue construction paper to cover the head, and then included grey paint chips for the trunk. I then went on to make the tusks and ocvered those in blue construction paper as well. I used pennies covered in black construction paper for the eyes.

If I were to improve this project I definitely would have made certain parts of the elephant pop out more (such as the trunk). I also would have tried to fit some of the paint chips on the trunk better, as well as taking more time to shape the tusks. However, I do really like how this project turned out and would try it again using the newspaper technique.
