Candy Still Life

Candy Still Life

The point for these two projects were to practice shading and making things three dimensional. For the shaded spheres I was required to use four materials (charcoal, ink, watercolor, and colored pencil) to create the spheres. For the candy still life, I had to arrange candy of multiples in an interesting compositions. I used colored pencil to color the skittles and create shadow, then used watercolor for a background. I chose skittles because they were small and there are a lot of them in a package so there were many examples of shadow.

In the sphere picture we used a template to create the perfect circles. For the skittles picture however, the skittles aren't perfect circles. I drew the skittles into lemon drop shapes so the skittles looked like they were on their side just like in my composition. I also composed the skittles so they were in a rainbow order.

I decided to have the skittles package look like it was ripped open to create detail in the picture. For the spheres watercolor and colored pencil, it helped to use two different colors for each to create darker tones and highlight.
