Realistic Scratchboard

The point of this project was to take a picture that we took ourselves and change it to black and white getting a full rang of value from light to dark. Then we took that picture and using scratchboard we recreated the image. First we created a value strip of scratchboard to get the hang of different techniques and tools we could use in order to get the value we need to create. At first it was kind of difficult getting the hang out scratchboard because when I tried to make the strip that was supposed to be all white I ended up ripping some of it. I wish on the value strip I had used other techniques such as stippling instead of just cross hatching.

For my actual scratchboard I decided to do a picture of the water with trees around it. I had originally chose a different picture but there wasn't enough range of value in the picture so I picked a different one. I finally got the hang of using the scratchboard although I messed up in some places and had to go over parts of it with ink and re-scratch it. Overall I don't think the scratchboard was all that bad, but I were to improve, because water flows horizontally I should've scratched horizontally in order for it to look like water.
