Beautiful Oops

Inked Garden

This piece of artwork is based off the book “Beautiful Oops.” This book demonstrates that you can turn a mistake into a piece of artwork. I used watercolor pencils and regular colored pencils to create a floral inspired piece. This artwork was started as a few ink drops that didn't look like anything but then I turned them into flowers. I thought the ink spots looked like the center of flowers so that's what I drew, then I added more flowers in the background to tie it together.

I tried to use many different colors in this piece to show the realism of an actual garden, because an actual garden doesn't have all one color flower and the flowers aren’t all the same shape and size. At first I wanted the part that is pink to be blue but then I made a mistake of my own and got pink marks from a watercolor pencil on the paper and ended up coloring the middle pink, but I enjoy the brightness of the color.

Flowers are one of the main things that I enjoy drawing and so I was glad that I could turn the ink drops into flowers. This project could relate to my life because even though you make a mistake you could always turn it into something great.

If I could revise one thing I would revise my background and make it more neat and/or more detailed.
