Oil pastel color study

I'm calling this project, paradise because my photographed image was a beach scene, and I think all the blues makes it look like an ocean paradise. The subject is landscape, and is based of of an image with a beach scene. I chose to create this project because the ocean is on of my favorite places to be. For materials, I used a wide range of oil pastels and I mixed together the colors to create new colors. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: gridding square by square and making new colors.

While creating this work, I paid close attention to color by making sure each square was blended into it's own color and looked different than the rest of the squares. I wanted my artwork to look like I analyzed color closely and I did this by gridding and mixing together the colors I see in the photograph onto my artwork. Too add interest to my composition, I used rhythm by analyzing each square the same, and blending color together.

I like the way my art still looks like an ocean and I am proud of the way I took my time with analyzing color and didn't blend all of the squares together. However, I struggled with keeping the borders looking neat and clean. If I created another artwork I may put tape along the whole border. My work shows thatI learned how to analyze color.
