4 Final Linoleum Prints

I'm calling these projects, summer day because this was a photo of me taken when I was younger, eating ice cream, on a warm summer day. The subject is linoleum prints based off of a photo of me and then a stamp that I created. I chose to create this specific work because it brought back a lot of good memories from when I was younger.

For materials, I used the paint for making linoleum prints, paper, stamps, pencil, colored pencils, etc. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: making linoleum prints and extending them also. While creating this work, I paid close attention to color by making sure I pressed down on my linoleum stamp to make the color show up as much as possible and to make it look neat. I wanted my artwork to look like I had an ice cream in my hand and I did that by drawing ice cream cones in the border of my extended. To add interest to composition, I used flowers for my print with a different paper by using a print from a wallpaper book.

I like the way my artwork has the same summer pattern throughout and I am proud of how I was able to finish this project with the limited time I had because I was sick for a few days of work time. However, I struggled with having an even border throughout. If I created another artwork like this I may focus more on carving my stamp deeper. My work shows that I learned how to carve on a stamp that resembles my own image and then to make linoleum prints from it.
