Graphite Self Portrait

Artist Statement:

The main idea that guided my artwork was my baby picture and how I wanted to try to bring it to life with art.  I also wanted to challenge myself as an artist to see how well my hand-eye coordination is. 

I used all of the graphite pencils, 2H, 4H, HB, 2B, and 4B. I did not have any 6B with me during the time I sketched this. I started shading lightly and then kept going over that one spot until I thought it was shaded and blended out enough. 

Why this is the way that it is, is because I wanted all the highlights and shadows to be as exact to the photo as possible. I did not research or do any experimenting with this project. What I did do is use my skills from Candy Still Life and use my mistakes to make this artwork better looking and a better process..
