Artist Statement:

We were instructed to map our tracks for a certain thing and I chose my white day schedule. To me, it looked like a block with a few lines coming out of the bottom corner. I looked at it from all angles and came to the realization that it looked similar to a key. We were also instructed to make the artwork represent us in some way and I love dragonflies. Dragonflies have always been a big part of my life, so I chose to put them on the key.

The materials used were graphite pencils to sketch out my map and then the key + dragonflies. I then used a thin sharpie to go over the pencil lines and clean it up a bit.

For my ideas, I was going to use colors on my artwork but I wasn't sure how to do the dragonflies and I felt that it looks better with black and white.  I tried to fill the empty white space with dragonflies but I still wanted them to be good-sized, so I drew 3 to cover up most of the space. I think it came out pretty good but I know I've done better and can do better. I've also been thinking of including dragonflies in most of my artwork to symbolize my work which could be a fun idea.
