Assemblage Sculpture

Artist Statement:

The main idea that guided this piece of art is that I noticed many people were doing animals and I wanted to also do an animal as well but did not know where to start, so I decided to talk to my mom about what I could do and then she came up with the idea of a sword but with a black blade.

The tools used during this project were first the newsprint and tape together, then the tissue paper, glue/water mix, and finally mod podge.

I did not do any research or experimenting with this artwork. Originally I did want to do shards of metal for the blade of the sword but unfortunately could not find any lying around the garage or my mom's work. I also could not find any gray tissue paper so I then decided to layer white and black on top of each other but after I realized that they weren't working well together, I decided to just go with a black blade for the sword and I am happy with how it came out.
