VA is Visual Arts and it is split into three parts. Drawing and painting [DnP], Theory of Arts [THA], and a 3D medium Sculpture or Ceramics.
Firstly, DnP. During this class, we usually sketch. We also receive projects that have topics related to nature and such to help us develop our aptitude. We use different mediums in our art such as charcoal or graphite. During our classes, our teachers will let us practise our skills and allow us to work on our technique. Examples of this are setting up still life props to let us sketch it within a fixed time. After we receive a project, we usually spend 2-5 weeks doing the project during our own time and during class. Doing the project also includes doing mind maps and planning out thumbnails.

THA is about learning about the different kinds of art, how art should be described, and understanding the basics of art. During these classes, we receive notes on how to dissect an artwork effectively. In Year one, we mainly focus on Art and representation, Art and abstraction, and Art and architecture. We also receive projects for THA, ranging from oral presentations about contrasting and comparing artworks and crafting an artwork of our own.
3D mediums, sculpture, and ceramics
During these classes, students are able to experiment with different clays or plaster and wire. Our projects include making huge ancient vessels and making paper or wire sculptures. We get to learn about how to make works of art through trial and error and really learning to not be afraid of making mistakes and truly embracing the adventurous side of us.
